Giftnote gift cards don't expire unless you turn expiry on. When you do, Giftnote gives the gift cards it issues an expiry date based on the period you choose.

Settings β†’ Gift Cards β†’ Settings. Under Expiry, choose Never expires or Expires after.

Before you start

  • Check your local laws. Some countries and states set a minimum period before a gift card can expire, or don't allow expiry at all.
  • Already have gift cards out there? Chat with us before you turn on expiry, so we can check how it affects them.

Setting an expiration time

  1. In the Giftnote app, go to Settings > Gift Cards > Settings.
  2. In the Expiry section, select Expires after.
  3. Enter how long a gift card stays valid, then choose Years, Months or Days.
  4. Save if a save bar appears.

To stop gift cards expiring, select Never expires. If you used Giftnote before September 2026: you no longer type 0 to turn expiry off. Select Never expires instead.

Check it worked. Open a gift card issued after the change in Gift Cards. The top of the page shows its expiry date.
