3. Definitions: Emails

A short definition of each Giftnote notification for gift orders, gift cards and Multi Gift, and which older emails each one replaces.

A short definition of each notification Giftnote sends. Giftnote sends each one by email. The recipient's gift message and gift card can also go by SMS. Your connected email tools get the same moments as events, under different names (for example Placed Gift Order and Received Gift Order). See Klaviyo Giftnote Events for those, and Email Notification Types in Giftnote for when each one goes out.

Where to find your notifications

To see what one order has sent, open the gift order and scroll to the Notifications card. To set up notifications for your whole store, go to Settings β†’ Notifications.

Settings β†’ Notifications: each event, who receives it, and its email and SMS channels.

Gift Order - Confirmed

Sent to the customer (the gifter) when the order is confirmed. It shows them their gift message. It replaces three emails from the previous version of the app (order scheduled, order tracked and the general confirmation), and its wording adapts to the delivery option: Send Now, Send Later, On Delivery or On Fulfillment.

Gift Order - Complete

Sent to the customer once the recipient has their gift message.

Gift Order - Gift Message Delivered

The gift message sent to the recipient. Depending on the delivery option, it arrives shortly after the order, on a scheduled date, when the order ships, or when the parcel arrives. It includes the message and the products the customer ordered.

Gift card / store credit emails

Gift card and store credit orders have their own notifications:

  • Gift Card - Confirmed (Customer): sent when the customer's gift card order is confirmed. Replaces the older "Gift card scheduled" email.
  • Gift Card - Complete (Customer): sent once the gift card has been delivered. Replaces the older "Gift card delivered" email, which showed the card value, a placeholder code and the sender's message.
  • Gift Card - Delivered to Recipient (Recipient): the email that gives the recipient their code. It can also go by SMS.
  • Gift Card - Store Credit Issued (Recipient): sent when you add store credit to the recipient's account.
  • Gift Card - Generic (Recipient): for gift cards with no message and no scheduled delivery. Replaces the older "Gift Card & Store Credit" email for cards with no message, which showed the value and code.
  • Gift Card - Used (Customer): sent whenever the gift card is used for a purchase. Your connected marketing tools get it too.

Multi-gift emails

Multi Gift orders (for sending to many recipients at once) have their own notifications, listed under Multi Gift in Settings β†’ Notifications:

  • Multi Gift - Confirmed (Customer): sent when the customer's payment is received and the main order is created.
  • Multi Gift - Placed (Staff): tells your team the main order has been created.
  • Multi Gift - Paid (Staff): tells your team payment was received for a multi-gift order.
  • Multi Gift - Complete (Customer): sent when every recipient has received their gift.
  • Multi Gift - Error (Staff): tells your team a multi-gift order hit an error.
  • Multi Gift - Claim Request (Recipient): for addressless gifts, asks the recipient to claim their gift and add their address. It can also go by SMS.
  • Multi Gift - Claim OTP (Recipient): the verification code a recipient asks for while claiming their gift.
